Accounting Payroll

Description:This individual will provide professional and technical payroll assistance to employees and managers of Soboba Tribal Administration, along with Soboba Tribal members. The individual will be responsible for producing bi-weekly payrolls for employees in addition to producing monthly Tribal member per cap distributions in an accurate, timely and efficient manner. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet specific deadlines on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. It is important that this individual have the ability to interact with all levels of personnel in a courteous and professional manner. Must have knowledge of both Federal and California Wage and Hour regulations, and be able to work with highly confidential information.
Duties:Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include the following:

On a bi-weekly basis, review Kronos and Paychex system employee payroll data for accuracy and conformity to payroll policies and regulations. Ensure that hourly rate computations are accurate and that timecard data transferred appropriately.

Submit completed bi-weekly payroll through the Paychex and banking systems in an accurate and timely manner.

Distribute employee payroll checks to managers within established time frames.

Compile, review and transmit monthly Tribal per cap distributions in an accurate and timely process.

Answer payroll related questions from employees, managers and tribal members on an as-needed basis, in a courteous and professional manner.

Transmit 401k and federal tax payments in an accurate and timely basis.

Review and reconcile quarterly tax returns, along with yearend W2 and 1099 information.

Provide external auditors with necessary support and information.

Prepare payroll journal entries on a bi-weekly and monthly basis, including wage and vacation accruals. Monitors, records and reconciles Tribal receivables.

Prepare termination checks or other manual checks on an as-needed basis.

Establish a professional working relationship with HR and be able to handle highly confidential information.

Perform various other duties as asked.

Qualifications: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a highly organized manner.

Ability to handle highly confidential materials.

Able to organize workload in order to meet deadlines.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Provide superior customer service skills.

Effective written and oral communication skills.


EDUCATION

A.A. in Accounting or Bachelors Degree. Years of payroll experience may be substituted for education.


EXPERIENCE

Must have knowledge of both California and Federal payroll laws.

3-5 years experience performing payroll and accounting related responsibilities.

Paychex payroll system experience preferred.

Kronos payroll system experience preferred and a plus.

Familiarity with Navision or similar Fund Accounting software a plus.

Must be proficient in Excel. Experience with macros a plus.
